Frequently Asked Questions
Can I start lessons as a complete beginner?
Absolutely. Lessons are designed to meet you right where you are — whether you’re brand new to music or looking to refine advanced skills, Rebekah will create a plan that fits your experience and goals.
What languages are lessons offered in?
Lessons are available in English or French.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations in order to reschedule lessons and avoid charges. There are no refunds or make-up lessons for student absences after the 24 hour window has passed.
What ages do you teach?
Lessons are available for children aged 4 and up, as well as teens and adults of all ages. Rebekah has extensive experience working with beginners through advanced students and tailors lessons to each learner’s goals and experience level.
Do I need to have my own instrument?
Yes, students will need access to an instrument in order to practice between lessons. For piano students, an acoustic piano or full-sized digital keyboard with weighted keys is recommended. Clarinet students should have their own instrument in good working condition. We will be happy to offer any guidance on instrument rentals or purchases as needed.
What styles of music do you teach?
Rebekah’s teaching covers a range of musical styles, including classical, contemporary, film music, and creative projects such as composition or improvisation. Students are always encouraged to explore the styles that inspire them most.
How long are the lessons, and how often do they take place?
Private lessons are typically 30, 45, or 60 minutes long, once or twice per week. The recommended length and timing depends on the student’s age, level, and goals. Rebekah will help you choose the best option during your trial lesson.
Do you prepare students for exams or performances?
Yes! Rebekah offers preparation for RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) practical and theory exams, as well as student recitals held several times per year in Montreal. Performance opportunities are always encouraged but never required.
Where do lessons take place?
Lessons are offered in-person at client homes in Montreal* or online via a high-quality video platform (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, etc.). Online lessons are designed to be just as interactive and personalized as in-person sessions.
*A travel fee will be charged for in-home lessons.
What equipment do I need for online lessons?
You’ll need a stable internet connection, a device with a camera (laptop, tablet, or desktop computer), and access to your instrument. For piano students, it’s best to position the camera so Rebekah can see both your hands and the keyboard. Clarinet students should make sure their full posture and instrument are visible. External microphones or headphones are optional but can enhance sound quality.
How much do lessons cost?
• 30 minutes — $35
• 45 minutes — $50
• 60 minutes — $65
Rates are based on a monthly or trimester plan, payable by cash or Interac e-Transfer. Please notify Rebekah if another mode of payment is desired.
